A few bars of music are enough to recognize the melodic excellence of Ennio Morricone (1928-2020). He has composed the music for around 500 films, including several that have written cinema history – such as Sergio Leone's legendary Italo western "Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod" or Giuseppe Tornatore's magical drama "Cinema Paradiso". Now Tornatore pays tribute to his friend and companion Morrcione, who has won an Oscar, several Golden Globes and many other important awards, with a magisterial cinematic homage.

In «Ennio Morricone – Il Maestro», the world-famous classically trained composer from Rome wittily talks about his multifaceted passion for music and provides insights into his eventful career. Enriching companions such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Springsteen or Zucchero have their say. For five years, Giuseppe Tornatore has selected, arranged and choreographed sequences from films and live concerts with Morricone creations. The result is a total work of art lasting more than two hours: no image, no sound is too much to honour a great of film art who has helped shape the cultural and contemporary history of the 20th and 21st centuries.
