Concert in the church Sent | GOOD FRIDAY CONCERT

In addition to works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Barry Guy and György Kurtág, the Rosary Sonatas "Carrying the Cross" and "Crucifixion" by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber will be performed on Good Friday. The fifteen sonatas by the Bohemian composer composed from 1678 onwards are among the most impressive creations of Baroque music.

Maya Homburger studied violin after graduating from high school and emigrated to England in 1986 after a few years as a member of the Camerata Bern. There she played in the famous baroque orchestras of Trevor Pinnock, Christopher Hogwood and John Eliot Gardiner. For many years she was one of the concertmasters of J. E. Gardiner's «English Baroque Soloists», but after many years in England and Ireland she has settled back in Switzerland. Today's program is her specialty.

Barry Guy is considered one of the most innovative and imaginative bassists and composers in the field of jazz, chamber and orchestral music. He is the founder of the famous London Jazz Composers Orchestra (LICO), the Barry Guy New Orchestra (BGNO) and the BLUE SHROUD BAND. At the same time, he is considered one of the most sought-after specialists for baroque double bass playing. The combination of old and new music is important to him and is repeatedly expressed in his compositions.

Since 1994, Maya Homburger and Barry Guy have repeatedly performed as a DUO in addition to their versatile concert activities all over the world. They skillfully experiment with old and new music and use the unusual combination of violin and double bass for new sound experiences.
