NATURAMA Lecture: Forest Inspector Johann Coaz and Zernez

Johann Coaz has become known as a cantonal and federal forest inspector, topographer, alpinist (he was the first to climb Piz Bernina) and pioneer in avalanche protection. This year we celebrate his 200th birthday. In his lecture, Paul Grimm presents the close relationship between Coaz and Zernez. Coaz's work ranges from recordings for the Dufour map to plant gardens and fish farming to avalanche barriers. Last but not least, Coaz played a key role in the creation of the Swiss National Park.
