Description

The third stage of the winter version of the "Via Engiadina" long-distance hiking trail begins with the ascent in the gondola lift from Scuol to Motta Naluns. On the gondola ride you can enjoy the first view of the day destination Sent, which is located on a sunny terrace in the east of Scuol. This alpine winter hike starts at the mountain station of the gondola lift Scuol, Motta Naluns at about 2150 meters above sea level. From here it goes flat sloping past the valley station of the chairlift Naluns as well as at the children's lifts in the direction of Jonvrai. Gradually, the trail now leads along the mountain side into open terrain, before heading downhill again towards the ski area. At Jonvrai, the route briefly crosses the slopes before running back into the open mountain area. After a few meters of altitude uphill, steeper descents have to be overcome again and again. On the way down to Sent, you will take a short walk along the "Dream Slope", the downhill of the Motta Naluns ski area. On the descent you pass the Sömmi-Bar and in Vastur – two restaurants that invite you to stop, especially in the afternoon sun. The last track after Sent is finally off the piste again. Sent is considered a picture book village: the striking church spire, several village fountains, Engadine houses, facades decorated with sgraffito – a tour at the end is a must.

Geheimtipp

In Sent, it is worth taking a few minutes to walk through the village with its sweeping squares and look up at the sky. The famous Senter gables date back to the end of the 18th century, when many villagers abroad (mostly Italy and Austria) hoped for an economically better life as confectioners and thus shaped the West Tyrolean flair of the village.

This winter long-distance hike can be booked as a package including luggage transport from hotel to hotel. More information can be found here: scuol-zernez.com/viaengiadinawinter
