Schlitrada

When the Valsoter slopes have the largest snow cover, the locals organize the traditional toboggan race. An occasion that was then the festival of the single and now represents at least a centuries-old custom. "It is the joy and the urge of young people for a festive experience that conjure up the Schlitrada every year like a colourful, lively flower from the austere enamel of the Engadine winter," the NZZ of 1951 describes the festival. "I've been here for at least 40 years," remembers Georg Janett from Tschlin. He and the Bun Tschlin association are happy to maintain this tradition.

Nowadays, the participants are not only single, but everyone. The meeting point is shortly before 7 pm below Tschlin - and after registration you can start with the sleigh ride to Strada. Where a dumpling festival and the award ceremony await the participants and round off the event. The

The start is at the stable of Andri Caviezel and Ernst Meier, below Tschlin. After about 300 m, the toboggan run makes a sharp right turn and leads partly into the forest, partly past the edge of the forest. After 500 m in a southwesterly direction, the path makes a left turn. Shortly afterwards follow four smaller curves which are located in open terrain. And so it slowly but surely approaches the end of the path, which is located in front of the bus stop Strada i. E., Cuncalada. Be careful at high speeds, the curves are narrow.
