Description

From Ardez, the trail leads to Val Tasna. Following the wild mountain stream, it goes in a leisurely incline first to Alp Valmala and to Alp Urschai in the valley of the same name. Behind the valley, not far from where the path to the Futschöl Pass branches off today, the most spectacular finds were made. It has been proved that under the great rocks of the Plan da Mattuns, people have been seeking shelter more than 10,000 years ago. Also on Plan da Mattun, some 3,000-year-old ceramic remains were found, which suggests that a certain form of alpine farming was already developing at that time. The Val d'Urschai is left on a slightly steeper path towards the Futschöl Pass, the highest point of the hike. With the Futschöl Pass you also cross the national border. The trail now leads down to the Jamtalhütte. The Jamtalhütte is now almost a hotel with 180 sleeping places and 225 restaurant places. Along the Jambach you walk leisurely down the entire Jamtal valley to Galtür. The nine-kilometre-long path from the Jamtalhütte to Galtür is not to be underestimated.
