Il tablà - The luxurious holiday location in Ardez / GR


Il tablà is a 400 years old Engadine hay barn. It was completely refurbished in 2015 and then stylishly equipped, with understated luxury, by professional designers.
Duri Vital, a famous architect from Senter, renovated this Engadine barn with much loving care for detail.

The house is surrounded by approximately 700m2 of undeveloped land. The property is located at the upper edge of the village of Ardez where directly adjacent green meadows invite to walks; in winter a “beginners´ slope” with a ski-lift is also provided for there.

Ardez is one of the best-preserved Engadine villages of this region. As the charm of the old village has been completely preserved, it is seen as an example village of Romanesque living. The environment was chosen by the WWF as a priority protection area. The Steinberg ruins, with the remains of the St. Lucius chapel, sits high above the village and invite you for short walks, all rewarded with magnificent views.
Guided tours of the village are held regularly.

The large and varied ski area of Scuol can be reached from Ardez in 5 minutes via Ftan or within 10 minutes via Scuol. A cross-country skiing trail with night lighting can be found right in the village of Ardez, 3 minutes away on foot. The neighbour village of Ftan holds a “Dario Cologna” cross-country skiing track of 8.5 kilometers length. On both sides of the valley, migratory birds and hikers will encounter impressive routes, short and long ones, pleasant and adventurous. Among them,the track leading to Scuol, over a suspension bridge and up to the castle Tarasp, through superb landscapes, remains a popular favourite. Also highly recommended is a trip to the Lai Nair lake.

After a day of sports, when the weather isn´t the best or if relaxation is sought after, spending some time at the Bogn Engiadina spa in nearby Scuol is strongly recommended.

Shopping possibilities, a bakery and a post office included, are located in the village. Eggs, milk, cheese and organic meats can be purchased directly from the farm. Ardez also has a café and two restaurants, the “Alvatern” being considered as one of the top addresses in Lower Engadine - with moderate prices however.

Ardez is very well served by public transport. The station is located below the village, at some 5 minutes on foot only from the house.

We, the owners, are a young family from Zurich. We also live in this house, one of the reasons it is fully equipped. Therefore, rentals are based on trust. We thus look forward to welcoming guests who also find enjoyment in beauty.
