The bon vivant Michel Poiccard is a daredevil on the hunt for pleasure. In a stolen luxury limousine, he gets caught up in a speed check on his way to Paris. A policeman catches him - and Michel shoots him dead in cold blood. On the run, he goes into hiding with Patricia, a newspaper saleswoman who wants to become a journalist. He tries to raise money for their escape to Italy. But the police are closing in on him.
