Ferienhaus Chasa Mazzina

The farmhouse "Chasa Mazzina" was built in the 16th century in the core of the village in Sent. The birthplace of the wife, Duonna (Mrs.) Mazzina, of the then mayor Johann Faller was acquired by our parents Robert and Annemarie Schenkel-Affolter in the sixties. This is as a thank you for the financial as well as non-material support in the renovation of the church and its ringing at the time.
Over the years, the Engadine house has been restored and renovated in stages according to historical specifications and templates. On the ground floor is the traditional Swiss stone pine parlour, which was already considered the real centre of life in the past, and not only because it was the only heated room next to the kitchen at the time. The kitchen now found its place in the former smokehouse. In the room that used to serve as a warehouse and shop, a bedroom has been set up next to the farmer's room from 1789, which is used privately.
There are a total of four bedrooms on the upper floor. Walls and ceilings as well as the metre-thick outer walls were clad with panelling made of fir or birch wood and convey a homely atmosphere with their rustic style. The second small smokehouse on the upper floor was converted into a wet room.
The former stable in the basement now serves as an additional recreation room with the built-in fireplace.
The village centre of Senter has largely retained its original character. Newer, modern buildings were built outside the village without exception. In all seasons, the Lower Engadine offers ideal conditions for people who want to hike, do sports or simply relax. There are a wide range of leisure activities as well as numerous sights or beautiful tours in the immediate vicinity.
Since we ourselves do not occupy the second home all the time and a house only lives when it is inhabited by people, we have also opened the doors for guests who also want to experience the special charisma of this lovingly restored holiday home.
