Grossmutterland - Lesung mit Selina Beghetto

As part of a week-long residency, Selina Beghetto will share excerpts from her current manuscript and invite the audience to a discussion followed by refreshments.

The “Land of Grandmothers” sounds like the murmur of the Inn River when the winter waters flow down the valley in spring. It smells like a mixture of freshly mowed grass and sunscreen on a hot July day. It tastes like the hand-picked lingonberries in the pickled pear halves on a game platter in the fall—sweet and tart at the same time.

“Grossmutterland” weaves together the stories of different women from the same family into a single narrative. They all grew up here in the Engadin, each at a different time, each with different dreams and perspectives. What connects them is their heritage and motherhood. What sets them apart is how they deal with it. The bilingual book explores the themes of belonging and the question of one’s place in this world.
