NATURAMA Lecture: The National Park Film of 1939

The national park film from 1939 is one of the treasures in the media collection of the Cantonal Library of the Grisons. In 2018, it was rediscovered in their archives. The Cinémathèque de Lausanne, the Cantonal Library of the Grisons and the Swiss National Park then decided to restore and digitise the trouvaille. Unfortunately, the whole film could not be saved. However, the surviving photographs show impressive sequences from the development of the national park, such as the "Naturschutz-Landsgemeinde" in Zernez in 1934. The scenes in Carolina document the fact that the released ibex also arrived environmentally friendly by public transport at that time.

The silent film will be set to music live by Simon Quinn & Speechless Collective. Since 2007, this quartet has been staging masterpieces from the silent film era at their live performances with self-composed soundtracks. | The Auditorium Schlossstall of the Swiss National Park is located directly next to the castle. 10 minutes from the train station.
