Description

The start of the bike route is Zernez in the Lower Engadine, the gateway to the Swiss National Park. From here, it goes through the Swiss National Park, along the scenic Ofen Pass road next to the Spöl Gorge and through large forests of mountain pines up to the highest point Süsom Give (2149 m above sea level). Here, it is worthwhile to leave the bike for a day and explore the National Park on foot. Deer, chamois, and ibex are waiting to be discovered here.

From Tschierv, the route follows the untouched and natural Rombach through the authentic villages of Fuldera, Valchava, and Sta. Maria to Müstair. The culturally rich villages, with their Engadine-style houses decorated with elaborate sgraffito ornamentation, all invite you for a short stay. With the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Carolingian-era Monastery of St. John, Müstair offers the cultural highlight of the tour.

From Müstair, it crosses the border into nearby Vinschgau. The route leads through fruit-growing areas and past medieval castles and through old architecturally valuable small towns to Mals. Taufers and the medieval town of Mals are the major highlights of this stage.
