In the Val S-charl are also the alpine pastures of Scuol, which were already important in past centuries. Such as the Alp Tablàsot. The hidden clearing of Tablasot is not visible from S-charl.

Description

From the bus stop in the middle of the small mountain village S-charl (at 1,800 m above sea level) the path leads eastward. The signposts point towards Tamangur. At first the road is still wide and the path runs along the river "La Clemgia" to a cattle grid. Immediately after this grid, turn left onto a hiking trail, the signposts point towards Tablasot. From here the path begins to climb. It leads through a beautiful forest with many larches up to a wonderful clearing where a small old hut stands. The highlight of the hike is now reached here. Then cross the forest clearing to find the forest path on the other side. The white-red markings are always visible on tree trunks or stones. If you follow these correctly, you will come down again to the road that leads to Tamangur, this place is called "Plan d'immez". Follow the road towards S-charl for about 300 meters, until a small bridge. There begins again a hiking trail on the other side of the river. The so-called mill path goes back to S-charl.

Directions

Start in S-charl
Follow the path south along the mountain stream
At the cattle grid turn left onto the hiking trail towards Tablasot
Follow the path until you reach the alpine road again
Follow the road back towards S-charl for about 300m
At the small bridge switch to the left side of the stream
Follow the mill path back to S-charl

Public Transport

  • By the Rhaetian Railway (from Chur, Landquart/Prättigau or from Upper Engadine) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp station
  • By PostBus (from Martina, Sent, Ftan or Tarasp) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp station
  • Continue by PostBus with hourly service to the PostBus stop S-charl

Arrival information

  • From the north: via Landquart – Klosters by car shuttle through the Vereina tunnel (Selfranga - Sagliains) or over the Flüela Pass to Scuol and then into a side valley of the Lower Engadine. The summer village S-charl is about 25 minutes from Scuol.
  • From the east: via Landeck / Austria in the direction of Scuol and then also turn into the side valley Val S-charl.

Due to the sometimes narrow road conditions, we recommend traveling by PostBus.
