As if by a miracle, piano student Laura survives a serious car accident on a trip to the Berlin countryside. Physically unharmed, but internally thrown off course, she finds shelter in the house of Betty, who witnessed the accident. From the very first moment, the two share a deep affection. Laura enjoys Betty's motherly care, visits to her husband and son's workshop and working in the garden. It is a carefree, happy time together, a late summer dream to which Laura and the family are only too happy to surrender. But there is something wrong, a dark pain that connects all four of them and yet remains unspoken.
Miroirs No. 3 forms a trilogy with Petzold's previous films 'Undine' and 'Red Sky'. After these were dedicated to the elements of water and fire, this one deals with the element of air.
