Laundromat owner Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh) gets lost in the chaos of her everyday life. The imminent visit of her father overwhelms her, the wishes of the customers push her to her limits and the upcoming tax return grows completely over her head. Going to the tax office is inevitable. But while she and her family call on the tax inspector (Jamie Lee Curtis), their universe is literally thrown into disarray. Space and time dissolve and they and their fellow human beings suddenly have more lives in various parallel worlds. But the multiverse also has advantages – she can access the abilities and lives of other versions of herself. This is sorely needed, because she is entrusted with a great, if not the greatest possible mission of all: saving the world from unknown evil.
