In Switzerland, around 100,000 children are affected by an addicted parent. One of them is rapper Gimma. He now processes the difficult relationship with his mother in his new book.

He is a permanent fixture in Swiss rap: Gian-Marco Schmid alias Gimma. Two and a half years ago, the Graubünden musician and author released his last album, "Schwarza Rucksack". On it, he raps about depression and strokes of fate. Even then, Gimma said on SRF: "We have to talk about our mental health."
Now Gimma's blunt, direct style also unfolds its effect in his latest book. In "Farewells to Mother", Schmid writes in detail and explicitly about the difficult relationship with his mother. She was an alcoholic and died a little over a year ago. "A very personal book," he says himself.
