An underlying sense of guilt creeps over reed farmer Johan when he discovers the body of a girl on his land one day. The crime haunts him and he is driven to try to track down the perpetrator himself. But neither in the village, where everyone knows everyone else, nor with the police does the stoic grandfather's new side go down well. When suspicion falls on a boy from the hated neighboring village, the murder case seems to be solved. Only Johan continues to try to shed light on the case - and comes across something dark and inexplicable. Which ultimately confronts him with himself.

"Reedland" is many things at once: a gripping crime story, a carefully observed social study and a beautiful landscape portrait - and at the same time incredibly rich in historical film references. A visually impressive, atmospherically dense and highly suspenseful debut.
