There are many spa landscapes - but what makes them special is not just their impressive architecture or the facilities on offer, but above all the people who make the stay unforgettable. With her many years of experience, Susi Stuppan characterises the sauna landscape and Telma Da Silva the Roman-Irish bath, creating an atmosphere in which guests can completely relax. Their cordiality makes a visit to the Bogn Engiadina a unique wellness experience that provides lasting relaxation and gives guests new energy for their everyday lives.
I am fascinated by the interaction with people. We have different guests with different needs every day, which makes my work exciting.

A place of peace, art and magic.

Telma Da Silva has been part of the Bogn Engiadina team for 16 years and is now in charge of the Roman-Irish baths. For her, this place - characterised by artistic paintings and a special atmosphere - is far more than just a wellness area. The Roman-Irish baths offer guests a retreat that helps them to leave everyday life and stress behind. And even for Telma herself, this place has lost none of its magic after all these years.

The Roman-Irish wellness ritual, whose roots go back to ancient times, not only relaxes the body but also strengthens the immune system. What makes it particularly unique is that the ritual can be booked either alone or as a couple – for an experience with plenty of privacy. Other guests are rarely encountered during the transitions between the stations.

The 10 steps of the Roman-Irish bathing ritual.

A visit to the Roman-Irish bath begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the traditional wellness ritual. Guests can then start their tour.

Step 1: Warm air bath (54°C)
Gentle relaxation begins in pleasant warmth. The body acclimatises and the muscles relax.

Step 2: Hot air bath (70°C)
The temperature rises, blood circulation is stimulated and the body begins to cleanse itself intensively.

Step 3: Massage and shower

A soothing massage relieves tension and enhances the effect of the warm steam baths.

Step 4: Steam bath I (38°C)
A gentle steam bath opens the pores and prepares the skin for deeper relaxation.

Step 5: Steam bath II (42°C)
Here the heat intensifies, the steam cleanses the skin and promotes detoxification.

Step 6: Mineral bubble bath (36°C)
Gentle massage jets and mineral-rich water revitalise the body and bring deep relaxation.

Step 7: Full mineral bath (33°C)
A warm bath in natural mineral water provides calm and has a beneficial effect on the skin and circulation.

Step 8: Cold bath (16°C)
Finally, a refreshing cold bath provides a revitalising effect, strengthens the immune system and gets the circulation going again.

Step 9: Tea break and mosturising
The baths are followed by a soothing tea break where you can enjoy warm herbal teas and give your body time to relax. You can then treat your skin to one of the hotel's own moisturising lotions.

Step 10: Rest and Relax
For the perfect finish, a relaxation area invites you to relax and unwind. You will be wrapped in a warm blanket. Allow the soothing effects of the ritual to linger and enjoy complete relaxation.

You can round off your stay with a small aperitif.

Depending on the plant extract, essential oils have a special effect - from calming and clarifying to invigorating and energising. They lend the sauna sessions a unique atmosphere and, complemented by atmospheric music, allow the experience to be customised to the needs of the guests.

How fragrances work - the art of combining essential oils.

How the essential oils are used in the infusions depends in part on the infusion schedule. In the winter months, for example, a selection of soothing spices is used in the Spice Magic programme. For other infusions, the sauna masters have the freedom to choose the essential oils individually.

The harmonious coordination of the fragrance notes plays a central role here: top notes have an invigorating and stimulating effect, heart notes provide balance and inner peace, while base notes – also known as foot notes – have a calming and grounding effect. The art lies in the right combination of these fragrances – a composition that guests consciously or unconsciously perceive and feel.

Infusions – from salt peeling to singing bowls.

The day at Bogn Engiadina begins with a refreshing Bun di-infusion – a revitalising start to the sauna world. Throughout the day, soothing cream infusions pamper the skin, while three special salt peeling infusions leave the skin feeling soft. Deep relaxation is provided by the relaxation infusions, which are occasionally accompanied by singing bowls. Finally, the Buna Not-infusion rounds off the day perfectly.

An oasis of peace and relaxation.

For Susi Stuppan, the sauna area at Bogn Engiadina is a true oasis of peace and relaxation. She particularly loves the small garden where guests can relax in the fresh air after a sauna session. Cooling off after an infusion is also part of the experience for her. The garden allows for moments in which nice encounters and conversations often arise with the guests.

Susi finds the moments in which she experiences the lasting effect of her infusions on her guests particularly touching. She will never forget an infusion that she deliberately customised for an older couple who seemed to be in love. She chose the song ‘Torneró’ to accompany the infusion – a choice that struck a chord:

After the infusion, the man came up to her and thanked her with deep emotion. It was his wife's birthday, and the song had a very special meaning for the two of them - because they had met and fallen in love over this very song many years ago.

It is encounters like this that make Susi's work so special and fulfilling.

Valuable peace in this stressful world.

For Telma, such unique encounters are also what make her job special. She can still clearly remember an encounter with a woman she met on the street in Scuol. The woman was walking on the opposite side and immediately crossed the road when she spotted Telma. The woman had been a guest at the Roman-Irish baths the day before and thanked Telma. It had been a long time since she had slept so well and deeply as she did that night. This is exactly what Telma wants her guests to experience when they visit the Roman-Irish Bath. Deep rest, so that they can return to their everyday lives refreshed and invigorated and remember again and again that time out like this is worth its weight in gold.

Working amidst the breathtaking mountain scenery.

For both Susi and Telma, the unique location of the Bogn Engiadina was a decisive reason for choosing their new home. Surrounded by the imposing mountain scenery and nestled in a pristine natural landscape, this place is far more than just a workplace for both of them.

The daily walk through the fresh mountain air, accompanied by peace and space, is a soothing ritual for them – it calms, grounds and re-energises. This connection to nature forms the basis for creating a place of peace and relaxation for guests at Bogn Engiadina. In their two activities, they have found a job that they do with all their heart – and you can feel it as soon as you talk to them about it.

With passion and dedication, they contribute daily to making the Bogn Engiadina a very special place of well-being.
