Engadine treasure chest that has fascinated for decades
Guarda
High above the Inn, far from the valley road and railway line, lies Guarda with its intact Engadin village landscape. In 1945, this village of 200 souls inspired Selina Chönz and Alois Carigiet to write the story of Schellen-Ursli, and in 1975 it was awarded the Wakker Prize. To this day, Guarda is considered a model village of Romanic culture and living tradition. Sgraffiti, narrow streets and historic houses characterise the village.
Small, quite places, gentle tourism.
Mountaineering villages
Mountaineering villages are small, quiet places dedicated to sustainable tourism. Their great potential lies in their unspoilt nature, high-quality natural and cultural landscape, and diverse mountain sports opportunities. Since 2021, the three villages of Lavin, Guarda and Ardez have been officially part of the mountaineering villages.
