Via Engiadina Etappe 12: Tschlin – Vinadi [SchweizMobil-Nr. 87] (oua_52319490_image)
The last stage of the Via Engiadina leads north from the typical Engadine village of Tschlin to the end of the valley. The Inn River roars far below, and the border with Austria runs alongside it. The wild forests, steep cliffs, challenging stony gullies and spectacular views make this route extremely attractive.

Details

Description

Tschlin, situated high above the Inn on a sunny terrace, is one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland. From here the hike runs along a gravel path out to Prà Grond. It continues over open terrain to the meadows of Mundaditsch always nicely straight ahead through the forest. The path then leads further over a viewpoint hill along a meadow path to Vadrain. Here you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Lower Engadin mountain world. From Alp Vadrain a path leads over La Vota more or less along the contour line to Pra d’Arsüra below Motta Mundin. The Vadrain barbecue area is perfect for a lunch break. Now it goes steeply downhill over a narrow path through the notoriously avalanche-prone slopes of Val Mundin. This is the most challenging part of the hike and calls for some concentration. But once you reach the forest clearing Pra da la Zipla, you can enjoy the last kilometers downhill to Vinadi.
