Way of St. James (No. 43): Lavin – Ardez

This hike takes you on the sunny side of the valley through the typical Engadine cultural landscape.

After starting in Lavin, you will immediately reach a country path after the church, from where you can discover the ruins of Gonda. On the way towards Guarda, you hike through the original Val Tuoi, which impresses with its diverse flora and fauna. In Guarda – the famous «Schellen-Ursli Village» – a culturally rich village walk awaits you. Then you continue your hike towards Ardez. The route takes you past the hamlet of Bos-cha as well as several beautiful viewpoints with views over the valley. Soon you will reach your destination with its distinctive castle ruins.

For a pleasurable break, a coffee and cake stop in Ardez and Guarda is recommended. In Guarda, a stop at the well-preserved Schellen-Ursli house (Chasa 51), which can be viewed from the outside, is worthwhile.
