Description

The “tras il god” mineral water trail winds its way through the forest up to San Jon. The loop trail begins in front of the Scuol Tourist Information Center and crosses the Gurlaina Bridge before climbing approximately 250 meters in elevation to the San Jon riding stable. After a short break, the trail climbs a few more meters in elevation to the Funtana Cotschna spring, where you can quench your thirst with lightly mineralized water. Looking across the stream behind you toward a rock face, you can see the waterfall from the mineral spring. Now head back a short distance and then turn right through a sparse forest. There you’ll come to the San Jon Dadaint spring, which consists of several small pools of water and forms a stair-step-like spring tufa downstream. Passing it, the trail now leads to the lowest point of the hike—the Lischana spring. The magnesium-rich spring is very popular with athletes and flows at the push of a button. The trail leads across the Inn River up to the PostBus stop “Scuol, Serras,” where you take the road to the right. After about 400 meters, you’ll see the enormous tufa formation of the Runà Spring across the meadow to the left, near a farm. The trail leads back to the bus stop and from there through the old village section of Scuol Sot. At the Plaz and Bügl Grond fountains, you can sample the Sotsass and Chalzina/Tulai mineral waters. Finally, the loop trail ends back at the starting point.

The “tras il god” mineral water trail is also well-suited for mountain biking (easier ascent on the road to San Jon). However, the section leading to the San Jon Dadaint spring is an exception. Here, visitors are asked to leave their bikes behind, walk to the spring, and continue the tour on the lower trail. Thank you for your cooperation.
