Description

The route begins in sunny Sent high above the Inn. Those who look around the village discover, besides the sgraffito facades, another architectural peculiarity: the curved gables, known as "Senter Giebel." They were once brought to the Inn Valley by craftsmen from Tyrol and today are considered a characteristic of the village. First on a gravel and then on a natural path, the route heads towards Val Sinestra. The valley in the far southeast of Switzerland has so far been spared from mass tourism. With its flower meadows in spring, fresh mountain air in summer, and golden larch forests in autumn, it undoubtedly counts among the most beautiful mountain regions of Switzerland. Here you can wonderfully enjoy outings by bike or on foot.

Upon reaching the valley, the characteristic Art Nouveau hotel Val Sinestra immediately catches the eye. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century at a place where six mineral springs gush from the mountain. The atmosphere of the former spa facility, which was closed in 1972, is still perceptible today. The building has been largely preserved in its original state and now houses a hotel with a restaurant. In recent years, the location has often served as a film set. At the height of the hotel, the route crosses to the other side of the Brancla River heading towards Giarschiglia. Away from civilization, the path mostly follows a gravel road past beautiful meadows towards Vnà. From the idyllic mountain village, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Lower Engadine mountain landscape.

After Vnà, the path runs eastwards to Seraplana and crosses the Inn. From the hamlet Raschvella, it follows the Inn upstream to Sur En. Those who need a refreshment before the last ascent across the Inn and back towards Sent can stop at the restaurant of Camping Sur En.
