Description

The route begins in sunny Sent high above the Inn. Those looking around the village will discover, in addition to the sgraffito facades, another architectural peculiarity: the curved gables, known as "Senter Giebel." They were originally brought to the Inn Valley by craftsmen from Tyrol and are now considered a feature of the village. First on a gravel path and then on a natural trail, the route leads towards Val Sinestra. The valley in the extreme southeast of Switzerland has so far been spared from mass tourism. With its flower meadows in spring, fresh mountain air in summer, and golden larch forests in autumn, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Switzerland. Here, wonderful excursions by bike or on foot can be undertaken.

Upon reaching the valley, the characteristic Art Nouveau hotel Val Sinestra immediately catches the eye. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century at a place where six mineral springs bubble out of the mountain. The atmosphere of the former spa, which was closed in 1972, can still be felt today. The building has been largely preserved in its original state and now houses a hotel with a restaurant. In recent years, the location has often served as a film set. At the height of the hotel, the route crosses to the other side of the Brancla River towards Giarschiglia. Mostly away from civilization, the path continues mainly on a gravel road past beautiful meadows towards Vnà. From the idyllic mountain village, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Lower Engadine mountain landscape.

After Vnà, the path goes eastward to Seraplana and crosses the Inn. From the hamlet of Raschvella, the path follows the Inn upstream to Sur En. Those who need a refreshment before the final ascent over the Inn and towards Sent can stop at the restaurant of Camping Sur En.
